Addictive Behaviors SIG

The Addictive Behaviors SIG (AB SIG) provides a platform for members within the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) to communicate and collaborate regarding topics related to addictive behaviors (e.g., alcohol, marijuana, nicotine, gambling) across the lifespan that include but are not limited to: research examining etiological factors and mechanisms that perpetuate substance use and related disorders, intervention and treatment, harm reduction strategies, and the impact of addictive behaviors on health and behavior. The AB SIG welcomes ABCT members who are interested in joining a group of researchers, clinicians, mental health professionals, and students who want to connect with other ABCT members in this exciting area of research and treatment. As a whole, our SIG promotes increased awareness of issues surrounding addictive behaviors, active involvement in ABCT, and communication among members at the annual conference and throughout the year. Please visit our website for more information or contact us directly!

We maintain an active listserv, sponsor a poster session at the annual ABCT convention, and host a SIG meeting at the convention.  At our SIG meeting we offer the opportunity to network and present two annual awards among other activities. Annual membership dues are $20 for professionals, $10 for post-doctoral trainees, and $0 (free) for students.  Membership dues support AB SIG activities at the convention
